Memorial Day Camping trip

(Matthew^2 were at Global DI competitions in TN)

Location:  Harold Parker State Park

Welcome Ani to your first ever camping trip with us!

Welcome also to my hammock, which got a lot of use

. . . as you can see

I call these shots:  Men & Fire

and this one is clearly called. . .
Live Love Laugh. . . it's the Vicki way :)

Despite the most panicked 5 minutes of my life, where I thought Mia had drowned, our time at the beach was great, especially after Mia learned the lesson not to go back to camp without telling us first.  It gets my heart racing just to type those words.

Once again, we got to borrow some nature catching containers/nets from the park rangers.  I've got to pick some of these up from the pet store so the kids stop ruining my Tupperware!

Randall, the wood collector

This next segment is called:  SIBLING S'MORES

I thought it'd be rude to take a picture of someone else's kids but something unique to this camping trip was the bond our kids made with the girls from the camping site next to ours.  They had kids ranging around Mia/Randall to Jeremy's age and we gave them a lot of freedom, which they appreciated.  They said they always do either Memorial day or Labor Day there so hopefully we'll see them in the coming years.

Mia & Dave win an art contest!

Mia and Dave entered their first ever chalk art competition in the family age group division (meaning they are entering the competition as a team).  This gave Gavin and myself time to do our own special plans.  First we went to the Ward Berry Farm, which has a great playground and animals and then we went to the Patriot Place Cranberry Bog.  We did, of course, also stop by and show support for Dave and Mia.  In the end, they came home with a first place trophy.  Mia is very proud of this, her first trophy!

Gavin turns 5!

Gavin wanted a Star Wars party this year.
Given that his daycare is by my work (vs. our house) we made it a family party.
