After computer troubles, general busy-ness at work and then the holidays, Mia's birthday and the flu. . . I am happy to say that the blog is officially gearing up towards getting back on track!  Stay tuned over the next few days/weeks for blog posts about each month I've fallen behind (Sept through Jan).  :)

Apple Picking (featuring Vicki and Alonzo!)



I am loving having extended summer hours so I can pick Mia up from school on Fridays.  I picked her up this past Friday and found that we had a special visitor in addition to Vicki who was planning on spending the night.  Alonzo was his name, he is one of the class stuffed animals that visits with children on the weekends.  We got his journal and were to write about our adventures so they can read them out loud on Monday.  Vicki was also spending the night because Mia has been requesting this a lot (and I think it is a great idea too). 

 

Friday night's movie was The Sound of Music.

 

Saturday we went to the Fairmount Fruit Farm in Franklin.

First day of school (2014-2015)

The time has come, their feet are another size bigger, and school is right around the corner.   

Mia went from a size 11.5 to a 12.5 and Gavin went from a size 9 to a 10.

The Children's Village

Gavin actaually started with The Children's Village's last week of summer so he had a ton of fun with "Getting Messy" week, which included a pudding fight, walking on Jello, a car wash with school chairs as the cars, tie dying and a magician!  He said he didn't like school a couple of times but it was pretty clear he was just mimicking Mia and her nervousness with impending Kindergarten.  When I picked him up the other day he wanted to stay and play "forever" so I think he likes it just fine.

Dreading Kindergarten all summer, Mia had trouble getting to sleep the night before and woke up uncharacteristically early the morning of.  Mia did have a tough first day because it was half the day with parents and half the day without, which led to a tough separation. They greeted Mia by telling her to have her picture taken, which she hates and they had a trillion and one things for the kids to do in 1 hr (scavenger hunt-style) when Mia could have benefited from just being able to sit and color/acclimate.  In either case days 2-4 were much better and she has started naming friends including Kate, Sabrina, Meave and Ella.
