Matt and I left our husbands in Massachusetts Friday night (2/14) after dinner and embarked on our 2nd February road trip to Florida together. Now THAT is a hot Valentine's date right there (27 hours of family togetherness in a mini-van)!
This is the kids sometime on Saturday after lunch perhaps when they decided to take off their shirts for fun. . . now THAT is boredom (or the southern heat starting to excite us northerners).
27 hours of movies on the drive, 27 hours of movies on the drive. You take one down you pass it around 26 more hours of movies on the drive. . . haha just kidding but it felt that way sometimes!
While the rest of the Northeast was getting slammed with a real blizzard, Mattie and I had a yummier version somewhere in northern Florida.
After over a day of driving, what is the first thing the kids do when they get to Bubbe and Pop Pop's house Saturday night? Sword fight with sticks of course!
Sunday morning we started our daily tradition of going to the park after breakfast. . .
Mia brought a purse on this road trip and Randall decided he must have one. This was the one Bubbe very kindly gave him (it was her mothers). It never left Randall's hip. Hopefully he has found something worthy to fill it with as this was his obsession for much of the trip (what to fill it with).
And of course, what Florida break wouldn't be complete without a trip to the pool? This became our after lunch routine.
Sunday Feb 15th was my dad's birthday so we took him out for some Thai food (yum!).

At some point, we made it to the beach!
Before leaving for Orlando we told the kids that we were going to Disney World. Note to future self: do not interrupt a movie that is about to start--you will not get the excitement you were hoping for. The reaction was basically, "can we start the movie now?" Matt and I were disappointed to say the least but we took it in stride. When we got to the hotel with the heated salt water pool and water slides they were singing a different tune!
You can't see it pictured here but even Gavin was brave enough to go down this long/dark tunnel on his own (with his floaties), which made him feel very accomplished.
Get up Randall!!! We have to go to Disney World!!!!
I took these 3 along with my parents while Matt took the older boys to MGM. This is the tram ride and Mia saying, "Mom!" for taking her picture. That stinker still hates pictures being taken of her.

We returned home by Saturday and had all of Sunday to recuperate, which was necessary. The road trip back was way more difficult than the road trip up in terms of everyone's moods/attitudes. You can't blame them either. . . that is a LONG time to be stuck in a car (even though 10-11 hrs of it was sleeping time). Matt, as always, I had a great time bonding with you (especially when you were driving). Mom/Dad I appreciate the hospitality with the way you let us take over your room. I also couldn't have done Disney without your help. Although I'd love to have you in MA year round, it is nice to have an excuse to visit FL in February. Until next year. . .
