Gay people have a right to marry

On Friday June 26th 2015 the Supreme Court ruling declared that gay people can marry.  After Dave explained the significance of this momentous event, Mia wrote the following.

On the very same day another, only slightly less significant event occured:  Mia got her first library card.

Happy Father's day!

We celebrated on Saturday since Sunday was rainy  all day. The day began with breakfast in bed and all of our cards and a photo book I made for Dave.  This was followed by early morning strawberry picking and playground/petting zoo visits at Ward Berry Farm.  After a quick lunch at home we hurried out to the theater to watch Inside Out, Pixar's most recent movie.  It was really great though Gavin was a bit scared (though he does scare very easily).  Dave is such an amazing father, I am so grateful for all that he brings to our family.

Dave's birthday was on a Wednesday so we had him open his presents in the morning, ordered pizza in the evening (his request) and finished the day off with some cake.  More celebrating/family time will occur on Father's day the following weekend.

Head Lice

Well this morning threw us off a bit.  We were excited to have a relaxing Sunday after a crazy busy Saturday.  But then figured out that 3 out of 4 of us have head lice. We had been itchy heads for a while but kept thinking it was the recent heat/heat rashes for those of us with hot heads/hair.   Dave scores a big one for having a shaved head. But this morning when I saw a bug on the pillow and looked at it with Mia's microscope, Dave IDed it as head lice.  Luckily mine wasn't as bad as the kids, but it still stinks.  All day we washed, combed, disinfected, watching movies all the while. We called everyone we had been in contact with to give them the "heads up" (har har).  Here are some pictures of our "exciting" day.

Update:  although we kept Mia out of school on Monday (poor thing missed her field trip to the library), she was able to return for pajama day on Tuesday as I was somehow able to clean every last egg out of her head.  We will continue to inspect/comb and take precautions for the coming weeks.

Happy Founder's and Pride Day!

Saturday was a CRAZY day.  It started with Founder's day in Foxborough:  the town parade was at 10am.  Now I may seem like a curmudgeon but why do parades have to give oodles of candy these days?  Anyway, after that parade we drove into Boston for the gay pride parade and despite the rush were lined up for at least an hour or two before it started moving.  It was a good 2-3 mile walk but always so much fun.  Here are some pictures from our family walking with Matt/Harold's family and their temple.

Igo Family Picnic

We didn't bring our camera, but last night Mia's elementary school (Vincent Igo Elementary) hosted a family picnic.  We brought some cheese/bread/fruit/veggies and they had a free sno-cone truck.  They also had a D.J.  Mia ran around playing tag with all of her friends but mostly Marco and Stephen.  Gavin tried to keep up and did pretty well.  At some point, our neighborhood friend Alyssa came with her daughter Maya and we all were dancing (well not Dave).  Then, at the end, the fire truck came and sprayed the kids.  We didn't know this part so the kids got soaked in their normal clothes.  Luckily, we live right now the road so we walked home wet - no biggie.  It was a fun time!
